This provides NAMI membership on three levels -- National, NAMI Ohio, and NAMI Stark . Your membership fee helps to support various local NAMI programs: providing education about mental illnesses (neurobiological brain disorders) -- what they are/are not; how to cope and promote recovery; and how to advocate positively and successfully. You will also receive the national and state quarterly publications, NAMI Advocate and News Briefs. The magazines feature cutting-edge articles about the latest research, treatments, and services for mental illnesses; the status of major policy and legislation at the federal, state and local levels; and provocative editorials and columns.

It should also be noted that The American Institute of Philanthropy (AIP), the nation's leading charity watchdog, awarded NAMI an A+ rating for its cost-effective charitable spending and fundraising practices. NAMI was one of only 10 groups throughout this country that received an A+ rating.
